How Heat Pipes Work
Imagine a sealed tube containing a wick structure and a working fluid. Here's the magic that happens inside a heat pipe:
- Heat Absorption: When heat comes into contact with the evaporator section of the heat pipe, the working fluid evaporates, absorbing thermal energy.
- Vapor Transport: The low-pressure vapor travels through the wick structure to the condenser section.
- Heat Rejection: The vapor reaches the cooler condenser section, condenses back into a liquid, and releases its latent heat.
- Capillary Action: The wick structure continuously draws the condensed liquid back towards the evaporator, completing the cycle.
